Page 56 of this Ego battery report says you can store them from -10C to 70C (14F to 158F). But we know that extreme temperatures degrade lithium ion batteries so keeping it at house temperatures could prolong the life. I plan to keep mine in the basement.
The heat alone isn’t the problem. Storing them at 100% with heat will degrade them (slowly) but at a lower charge level it should be fine unless it’s 120 F+ in your garage. Similarly, storing them in mild cold temps is ok (depending on how cold) but charging in very low temps can really degrade the battery.
Brought them all inside the house to the basement this winter and they were all good to go. It’s probably fine to store them if your charge level is below 80%. The heat alone isn’t the problem. Some of these batteries could outlast their owners even with very casual attention to where they’re stored.
