For integrating energy storage systems into a smart grid, the distributed control methods of ESS are also of vital importance. The study by [ 12] proposed a hierarchical approach for modeling and optimizing power loss in distributed energy storage systems in DC microgrids, aiming to reduce the losses in DC microgrids.
In [ 86 ], the impact of an energy storage system’s capacity on the economy of the whole life cycle of the system was studied to minimize the total cost of the system, including grid power supply costs, photovoltaic power generation costs, and battery charging and discharging depreciation costs.
In [ 73 ], aiming at superconducting magnetic energy storage features in a power grid, the characteristics of power operation were optimized, with minimalization of the total system’s total carbon dioxide emissions as the goal, and using the Lagrange multi-plication method to combine the K-T conditions for a solution.
Energy storage technology has become an important part of the development of smart grids. For integrating energy storage systems into a smart grid, the distributed control methods of ESS are also of vital importance.
Using PEST analysis, we demonstrated that governments, national officials, and people have key roles in expanding energy storage systems for renewable power integration. Figure 1 shows the framework of the methodology of this paper. It implies that a collaboration between officials and people is necessary to expand energy storage.
Global electricity output is set to grow by 50 percent by mid-century, relative to 2022 levels. With renewable sources expected to account for the largest share of electricity generation worldwide in the coming decades, energy storage will play a significant role in maintaining the balance between supply and demand.
