The Standard covers a comprehensive review of energy storage systems, covering charging and discharging, protection, control, communication between devices, fluids movement and other aspects.
A vibration load spectrum for lithium cells and batteries including lithium ion cells/batteries and lithium polymer cells/batteries is already defined as a type approval test procedure of dangerous goods of class 9 in the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, paragraph 38.3.4.3.
2.2.1. The high voltage-bus shall be energized by the vehicle’s own REESS and/or energy conversion system and the voltage level of the REESS and/or energy conversion system throughout the test shall be at least the nominal operating voltage as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
After the vibration, a standard cycle as described in Annex 8, Appendix 1 shall be conducted, if not inhibited by the tested-device. The test shall end with an observation period of 1 h at the ambient temperature conditions of the test environment.
