In recent years, a considerable number of mandatory policies and regulations on the safety of new energy vehicles have been introduced, which has resulted in an increase in the technical requirements for the safety of new energy vehicle products and a slight improvement in the safety situation.
Meanwhile, the PEEK substrate maintained dimensional stability even at temperatures as high as 240 °C . Separator modification with new material development is one of the most effective ways to enhance battery safety, but the technical feasibility must be considered in coordination with the cost and reliability of materials.
Path to improving battery safety. Early warning systems are crucial in avoiding catastrophic failure scenarios, and the development of these systems generally includes establishing early warning models and using sensors to monitor battery parameters in real time.
In this study, we counted the known combustion accidents of new energy vehicles, analyzed the cause of a NEV combustion accident, and proposed a method to warn abnormal vehicles. The main conclusions are as follows: Thermal runaway of the power battery was usually the root cause of combustion accident.
Ninety percent of the accident vehicles were equipped with ternary polymer lithium batteries. Furthermore, the sum of SC while driving and charging accounted for 70 % of the total from the accident scene. In these scenarios, thermal runaway of the power battery is commonly the primary reason for the accident.
