Notably, the instability of solar energy resources varies across regions, with the Yangtze River Basin and the southeast coastal areas experiencing greater instability compared to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Northwest China, Inner Mongolia, and other regions.
PV panel heats up because of the direct exposure to the sun. The amount of light absorbed by the module's parts other than the solar cells contributes to the module's heating which leads to a decreased bandgap energy, resulting in a poor power output. Solar panels are mounted in certain height to vent off the excess heat energy.
In PV modules, the power decreases with increasing temperature because the cell voltage decreases. This happens even though the generated current increases. This increase does not compensate for the voltage drop. Let is assume that the solar module reaches 85 °C. In this case, the temperature difference is 85 − 25 °C = 60 °C.
However, environmental conditions as well as operation and maintenance of the solar PV cell affect the optimum output and substantially impact the energy conversion efficiency, productivity and lifetime, thus affect the economy of power generation.
Moreover, with high convective intensity and increased climate variability, solar energy anomalies are prone to occur. Prolonged periods of heavy rainfall and sudden abnormal weather conditions disrupt the stability of solar radiation reception, elevating the likelihood of deviations from expected solar radiation levels.
These events have a great impact on the stability of solar energy resources in these areas. The estimated results of the M-K test and Sen's slope method (Fig. 7 b) show that 78.77% of the pixels are decreasing, 21.22% are increasing, yet they fail to pass the significance test (p < 0.05).
Grid Stability Issues With Renewable Energy Sources: How ...
In the production of power with solar energy, the fluctuations in the supply and demand of energy for a particular place can cause instability in the grids. These fluctuations occur because the sunlight intensity in an environment with homes using solar panels, for example, varies from time to time. Thus, while the transition to sustainable ...
