The energy-to-power ratio (EPR) of battery storage affects its utilization and effectiveness. Higher EPRs bring larger economic, environmental and reliability benefits to power system. Higher EPRs are favored as renewable energy penetration increases. Lifetimes of storage increase from 10 to 20 years as EPR increases from 1 to 10.
The battery system is associated with flexible installation and short construction cycles and therefore has been successfully applied to grid energy storage systems .
