Battery self-heating technology has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the power supply capability of lithium-ion batteries at low temperatures. However, in existing studies, the design of the heater circuit and the heating algorithm are typically considered separately, which compromises the heating performance.
The entire battery self-heating process is as follows. At the beginning of heating, the ambient temperature is low, the internal resistance of the battery is large, and the permissible current is small due to the battery safety voltage limit.
Yang et al. , further compared the battery self–heating method employing SHLB structure with the external heating method. They found that the SHLB is demonstrated to reach a heating speed of 1–2 °C/sec and the temperature distribution is much spatially uniform.
