The three contacts, in counter clockwise order are: Cathode (-), Sense (S), and Anode (+) (with the center contact pointed towards you). Figure 1 shows the battery pack prior to disassembly. There are 4 torx screws to remove. Once the screws are removed, the top part of the case can be slid off of the rest of the pack (press both buttons).
When designing a battery pack, it is important to weigh different parameters against each other to acheive a suitable design. It is therefore significant for these tradeoffs to have a valid foundation to stand on. One tradeoff that needs to be accounted for is comparing safety of the battery against its weight.
What we have here is 854g of brand new DeWalt Tool Battery, built in late 2016, if the date code is encoded reasonably. It has the same terminals and latching mechanism as all the 20V Max packs - which does make sense, given that they all need to fit in the same tools. The underside comes with the usual warnings and information.
See "Notes on 18V/20V Lithium Ion Battery Packs" section in the "Power Tools Battery Conversion Guide" page. B+ stands for battery positive terminal. TH is the thermistor; a temperature-sensitive resistance that enables the tool to cut off the power to save the battery from overheating. (See "Comments & Discussion".) ID.
Once the screws are removed, the top part of the case can be slid off of the rest of the pack (press both buttons). You may have to press one of the metal contacts with the eraser end of a pencil to help slide the contacts out of the top. Remove the 2 buttons and their springs.
The packs’ primary components are the modules, often connected electrically in series and constructed by a set of cells. These cells can either be cylindrical, prismatic or pouch as illustrated in Figure 6. (4) The electrolyte used in the battery packs varies depending on what kind of cell that is employed.
Task Planner for Robotic Disassembly of Electric Vehicle Battery Pack
The rapidly growing deployment of Electric Vehicles (EV) put strong demands on the development of Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs) but also into its dismantling process, a necessary step for circular economy. The aim of this study is therefore to develop an autonomous task planner for the dismantling of EV Lithium-Ion Battery pack to a module level through the …
