Since 2017, charging pile operations have become profitable, and the private sector has begun to inject capital into this new business. However, Japan relies on subsidies to develop these infrastructures. Among the 30,000 charging piles in Japan, about 20,000 received government subsidies and were constructed from 2013 to 2016.
According to the data released by the official website of the plug-in motor, as of October 2015, there were 9,197 charging piles supporting plug-in D.C. fast charging in the world, including 5,484 in Japan, 2,364 in Europe, 1,306 in the United States, 55 in other regions, and 55 in Europe. The market growth is pronounced.
Korea has seen a rapid increase in sales of electric LDTs thanks to an innovative pol-icy that incentivizes the adoption of EVs for commercial use. In terms of energy, 80,000 LDTs require as much as 480,000 passenger cars. Therefore, a good public charging infrastructure should not only cater to passenger vehicles but also to trucks.
