Owing to highly theoretical capacity of 3579 mAh/g for lithium-ion storage at ambient temperature, silicon (Si) becomes a promising anode material of high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs).
The pristine Si layer provided a large and clear Si crystallite phase with high crystallinity (Fig. 4c). However, as the amount of crystal growth inhibitor increased, the size of the Si crystals substantially decreased in the C (1.5)Si layer with the emergence of the SiC phase (Fig. 4d).
The C (x)Si slab model (x = 0, 1.5, 5) consists of three layers of graphene and a mixture of silane (159 molecules) and ethylene (0, 26 and 91 molecules for the three systems, respectively).
