At Intersolar Europe, SolarEdge revealed its new Bi-Directional DC EV Charger. The charger allows solar-powered V2H and V2G operations.
Powered directly from the sun, Enteligent’s solar EV charger can supply 25 kW of fast DC charging – three times faster than AC Level 2 EV chargers – while also supporting vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) home energy resilience and providing significant energy savings.
The Israel-based inverter manufacturer's DC-coupled architecture allows for simultaneous EV charging directly from solar, home battery storage, and the grid. The charger is connected to single- or three-phase inverters through a DC bus circuit which can be oversized by up to 200%, enabling charging the EV with excess PV.
The charger has a charge/discharge rate of 12/24 kW and a peak efficiency of DC to DC of 99%. The new charger will enable solar-powered vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services. It will become commercially available in the second half of 2024.
California-based Enteligent is accepting pre-orders for what it claims is the world’s first DC-to-DC solar-powered EV charger. August 21, 2024 update: Enteligent has raised $6 million in capital from investors to scale the commercialization of its DC-to-DC solar-powered EV chargers. Taronga Ventures led the funding round.
