Liquid-cooled battery cooling structures can be divided into passive and active. In the passive system, the liquid exchanges heat with the outside air to send the battery heat out; in the active system, the battery heat is sent out through liquid-liquid exchange.
Liquid-cooled battery heat dissipation is developed under the background that air-cooled battery cooling cannot meet the expected heat dissipation effect. The thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity of liquid are higher than those of air. Table 1 shows the thermal conductivity of water at different temperatures.
Battery heat builds up quickly, dissipates slowly, and rises swiftly in the early stages of discharge, when the temperature is close to that of the surrounding air. Once the battery has been depleted for some time, the heat generation and dissipation capabilities are about equal, and the battery’s temperature rise becomes gradual.
The findings demonstrate that a liquid cooling system with an initial coolant temperature of 15 °C and a flow rate of 2 L/min exhibits superior synergistic performance, effectively enhancing the cooling efficiency of the battery pack.
As the coolant flow increases in the turbulent flow field, the synergy angle between the coolant velocity gradient and the temperature gradient vector lowers, which benefits the battery pack by boosting the flow rate to disperse heat and enhance the cooling impact of the battery pack. 3.
Optimal cooling efficiency is achieved with three cooling channel inlets, minimizing the temperature difference across the battery pack. The cornerstone of electric vehicles lies in their power batteries. Operating temperature plays a pivotal role in determining the performance of these batteries [1, 2, 3].

Results show that: at the cooling stage, it is able to keep each battery working at an optimal temperature under different discharge conditions by changing the flow and the inlet temperature of liquid; at the heating stage, large flow rates and high inlet temperatures are able to speed up the preheating process, thereby saving time of the drivers.
Gas-liquid phase change cooling technology mainly means heat pipe cooling, in which liquid changes to gas when heated and the gas returns to a liquid state when cooled. The battery heats the evaporation section of the heat pipe, and the liquid inside the pipe core evaporates to steam as a result. During condensing, the steam releases latent ...

The principle of liquid-cooled battery heat dissipation is shown in Figure 1. In a passive liquid cooling system, the liquid medium flows through the battery to be heated, the temperature rises, the hot fluid is transported by a pump, exchanges heat with the outside air through a heat exchanger, the temperature decreases, and the cooled fluid (coolant) flows again.
