Solar energy is the sun’s energy that has been harnessed by humans. Large-scale solar photovoltaic (LSS-PV) system is the arrangement of hundreds of thousands or millions of photovoltaic (PV) panels arranged to generate energy which can generate energy up to 1 MW at least.
Furthermore, the converter-based solar photovoltaic (PV) plant has zero inertia which will inevitably reduce the overall system's inertia and cause stability problem in the event of contingency or large power mismatch. In this regard, this paper aims to investigate the impacts of large-scale solar PV plant on power system's frequency response.
Designing a large-scale PV power plant requires careful planning and selection of location. The site must be chosen to avoid shading from buildings, trees, or other obstructions.
In this article, grid integration using power electronics is presented for large-scale REN generation. Technical issues and requirements are discussed with a special focus on grid-connected wind, solar photovoltaic, and energy storage systems.
To connect a commercial solar power plant to the grid at 11 kV or higher, one or more transformers are typically needed to step up the voltage. The type of transformer should be selected based on the required capacity, its position within the electrical system, and the physical location and environmental conditions of the site.
All decisions regarding the engineering of a large solar PV power system must be carefully considered so that initial decisions made with cost savings in mind do not result in more maintenance costs and decreased performance later in the system’s lifespan.
