The coupled photovoltaic-energy storage-charging station (PV-ES-CS) is an important approach of promoting the transition from fossil energy consumption to low-carbon energy use. However, the integrated charging station is underdeveloped. One of the key reasons for this is that there lacks the evaluation of its economic and environmental benefits.
Green H 2 can be produced using PV excess energy as low as 6.9 USD/kg. With the growing interest in adopting both commercial and residential electric vehicles (EVs) utilizing green renewable energy, the techno-economic assessment of EV charging stations with solar energy is a critical aspect of the transition to sustainable transportation.
PV-powered charging stations (PVCS) may offer significant benefits to drivers and an important contribution to the energy transition. Their massive implementation will require technical and sizing optimisation of the system, including stationary storage and grid connection, but also change of the vehicle use and driver behavior.
Moreover, Ullah et al. (2023) introduced a solar-based grid-tied charging station that optimizes EV charging by implementing a scheduling technique to maximize the utilization of solar power. Their model accounts for seasonal variations in power generation and EV charging connectivity.
The capacity optimization model of the integrated photovoltaic- energy storage-charging station was built. The case study bases on the data of 21 charging stations in Beijing. The construction of the integrated charging station shows the maximum economic and environment benefit in hospital and minimum in residential.
